The only team that has won Akaa-Volley in the Finnish Champions League in this season, TUTO Volley was not an easy opposite in the Finnish Cup in Akaa Areena today.
Akaa-Volley managed to beat TUTO by 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 28-30, 25-22, 16-14). The fight was as thrilling as one can see when looking at the points. The both teams were ready to continue in the cup and nothing was given easily to the opponent.
- This was a horrible match, said Panu Pitkänen the executive manager of Akaa-Volley after the fight.
It is petty that there were 347 spectators only. This match was an excellent promotion for volleyball.
- There is not a single reason why we lost today. The both teams were playing very good volleyball. To mee, Akaa-Volley is the best team in the league at the moment. Thus, when we are giving this kind of challenge to them, I feel we do have good possibilities to manage nicely in the spring, commented TUTO-coach Jani Niskakangas.
Jaylen Jasper was awarded as the best player of Akaa-Volley. He made 36/+23 in the statistics while Petteri Tyynismaa marked 21/+14 and Niklas Seppänen 16/+15.
Akaa-Volley will continue in the league on Wednesday (11th Dec) already. VaLePa will visit Akaa Areena starting at 18.30.
Finnish Cup will continue in Kuopio where Savo Volley will host Akaa-Volley some day around the change of the year. The date will be fixed in a couple of days. The winner goes in the cup finals in the beginning of February.
