SK Zadruga AICH/DOB won Akaa-Volley by 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-20). This means difficult times for Akaa-Volley on the 7th Jan in Bleiburg, Austria. Only the win by 3-0 or 3-1 gives our team a possibility to continue in CEV Cup in this season. If this happens the solution depends on a result in the so-called golden set.
The match in Akaa Areena was totally different than expected. Akaa-Volley has been very strong in its home arena and everyone in the stand was waiting for an equal fight. But, Akaa-Volley was all too soft in serves (18 errors and no aces) and attacks (47%, 8 errors). Meanwhile AICH/DOB made 11 errors in serves and 4 aces. Only one attack error is found in their statistics.
Luan Jose Weber of AICH/DOB was awarded as MVP of the match. His statistics shows 18/+9 with 62 % efficiency in the attacks. The middle player Nicolai Grabmüller played extremely well also by 8/+8 and 86% efficiency in the attacks. Akaa-Volley’s Antti Ropponen made 13/+6, Sebastian Pozo Hernandez 10/+1 and Antti Taponen 7/+5.
Anyhow, we can expect more equal performance in the second match in Bleiburg. Most probably, Akaa-Volley’s experienced captain Niklas Seppänen will be with the team and the second libero Kandai Goto will be playing as well. Of course, SK Zadruga AICH/DOB is favorite when playing in its home arena.
Waiting for January!
